International launch for the new Vintage Sport Heritage line Tribute to the Falcon's 50th anniversaryOn one hand, watch manufacturer Bell & Ross has designed collections of timepiece instruments that pay tribute to five key periods in aviation history and the technological breakthroughs that occurred from the 1900s to the present day.
On the other hand, Dassault, a French symbol of excellence with an international presence. Thanks to its know-how in the military field, Dassault Company can apply its uses for its civil customers. The highly demanding military requirements are applied to the civil field in order to meet its final customer expectations.
The invention of the Falcon during the sixties is an important chapter of the history of aviation. That's why Bell&Ross wanted to pay a tribute to this prosperous time in aviation with the Vintage Sport Heritage line. This collaboration proves that Bell & Ross, being the benchmark in aeronautical watches, shares Dassault's values of innovation, quality and reliability. To mark the celebrated jet's 50th anniversary, Bell & Ross has created two limited edition timepieces: the VINTAGE FALCON.
- A highlight of this partnership occurred in an intimate ceremony last September 27th in our Parisian headquarters, when Eric Trappier, CEO of Dassault, received the first Vintage Falcon.
Marcel Dassault once said "a good plane is a beautiful plane". Likewise, Bell & Ross embraces the philosophy that the beauty of an object, no matter how sophisticated it is, can never match the logical culmination of its primary function.
Corporate launches were organized throughout the world in the meantime:
- In China, where Bell & Ross strengthens its position by particpating to two major events in the Aeronautical field.
The Chinese International Business Aviation Show (CIBAS from September 10-12th) held at the Flight Inspection Center of CAAC where the Bell & Ross Vintage Falcon Ltd Edition was introduced to the professionals inside Dassault's chalet.
On the same day, a private cocktail party was hosted by French Embassy and Dassault at the occasion of the celebration of the Falcon's 50th anniversary, and Bell & Ross enrolled as a partnership.
- Paris, on October 3rd, Bell & Ross held its annual event at the privileged and exclusive Hôtel National des Invalides. It was particularly special this year as Bell & Ross celebrated the launch of the new collection and more especially, the Vintage Sport Heritage Collection with the Vintage Falcon, the anniversary watch created for Dassault Company.
- Malaysia, Bell & Ross hosted a party recently in Kuala Lumpur (October 8th). The event was graced by Her Excellency, Madame Martine Dorance, The Ambassador of France in Malaysia, with the presence of Mr Carlos Rosillo, CEO and one half of the Bell & Ross brand.
An elated Mr Carlos quoted at the event, "With this collaboration, we are pleased to echo Charles Lindbergh's "I've found the bird" quote with "We've found the watch" at Bell & Ross."
He further added, "We are pleased to have captured the soul of the Falcon, which is its cockpit in a watch, where form follows function. So the watch really symbolises the wearer."
The Vintage Sport Heritage line is currently available in every POS worldwide.
The BR 123 & BR 126 Vintage Falcon models are limited editions of 500 pieces each and are exclusive on sale in Bell & Ross boutiques and e-boutiques.

BELL & ROSS CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF THE TORNADOTo mark the 30th anniversary of the illustrious TORNADO combat aircraft, Bell & Ross pays tribute to the Aeronautica Militare with an iconic commemorative watch.
A WORLD OF INSPIRATION
Aeronautical instruments are the pinnacle of readability, reliability and performance. Bell & Ross instrument watches are directly inspired by aircraft cockpit clocks and are based on four fundamental principles: readability, functionality, precision and water-resistance.
Because our watches meet the demands of the most extreme conditions with ease, Bell & Ross has become a benchmark in the world of luxury watchmaking and in the exclusive domain of professional users.
Civil defense mine disposal experts, Rafale pilots, combat divers, and now, Tornado pilots: the latest prestige reference for the Bell & Ross brand, synonymous to quality and reliability for those professionals working in extreme conditions.
A TRIBUTE TO THE AERONAUTICA MILITARE
Sleek, stylish and powerful, fighter planes are the masters of the skies. The 1980s were a prolific period for fighter aviation in Europe, especially in terms of cooperation between countries. The Panavia Tornado is a perfect example of this.
Designed to be at the forefront of high-performance navigation and extreme precision, the MRCA 75 (Multi-Role Combat Aircraft 1975), soon to be known as the Tornado, was jointly developed by the UK, Germany and Italy during the 1970s, going into active service in 1982.
A genuine masterpiece of technology, a legendary aircraft capable of supersonic acceleration, these "Warriors of the Skies" can reach Mach 2.34 (2,417 km/h) and have a range of 1,400 km.
As an integral part of the Comando della Squadra Aerea, these multi-purpose combat aircrafts are based in Ghedi and Piacenza and carry out recognition, defense, and attack missions for the 6th and 50th squadrons.
Emboldened by the values of this exceptional aircraft, Bell & Ross is honored to spotlight this aeronautic model.
BR03-94 TORNADO: A WATCH WITH CHARACTER
Bell & Ross has always designed watches for professionals and its creations are based on an unchanging principle: function leads design.
The clean lines of the watches in the Instrument BR collection -which have become the brand's iconic models- authentically echo the design of a plane's cockpit clock. Designed for men of action looking for precision and robustness, they are extremely readable as well as highly reliable.
The Instrument BR03-94 TORNADO special edition has been designed by Bell & Ross to commemorate 30 years of the eponymous aircraft-a worldwide numbered, limited edition of 50 watches for sale to the general public.
The BR 03-94, 42 mm in diameter, is a functional watch par excellence. It is the ideal, discreet tool for professionals for whom every second is critical. Perfectly readable day or night, due to its matte black dial, anti-glare sapphire crystal and imposing photoluminescent hands, the BR 03-94 TORNADO is also water-resistant to 100 m and powered by a high-precision Swiss mechanical movement with a two-counter chronograph and a power reserve of 40 hours. Simple and discreet, it is fitted with a black rubber or heavy-duty synthetic canvas strap guaranteeing durability and comfort.
With its perfect functionality, the Instrument BR 03-94 TORNADO proudly and elegantly displays the logo specifically designed for this anniversary and the colors of the Squadra Aerea Tornado.

Bell & Ross Event at "Hotel National des Invalides" Part II: 2013/2014 Bell & Ross Novelties launching event
The annual Bell & Ross event was particularly special this year, as the company celebrated 2 significant events.
First, Bruno Belamich, creative Director and co-founder of Bell & Ross received the prestigious order Knight of the French Legion of Honor from the hands of General Baptiste, Director of the 'Musée de l'Armée,'.
Following this emotional and sharing moment with friends and partners of Bell & Ross, the brand presented their 2013/2014 novelties, and more especially the Vintage Sport Heritage Collection, a tribute to the civil aviation of the 1960's and to the Vintage Falcon, an anniversary watch created for Dassault Aviation company.
The award ceremony of the French Legion of Honor and the presentation of the new collection inspired by the military history were all the more meaningful: The Hôtel National des Invalides, an emblematic military site full of history, was the perfect venue for this memorable night.
Travelling back in time, Napoléon, founder of the first National Order, lies under the golden dome of the Invalides. He wanted that the first Legion of Honor ceremony takes place at the Invalides, on July 15th 1804. For the occasion, The Emperor himself decorated all the nominees, among them representatives of the industrial sector. He was convinced that a long lasting military power could only exist thanks to a solid economic situation.
Almost 800 guests were present. Among them, influential media figures rubbed elbows with military representatives, professional pilots, politicians, and watchmaking industry leaders, all sharing their common passion for timepieces. We can quote, Mr Minister Frédéric Lefebvre, Mr General Bertrand Ract Madoux, chief of staff of the Land Force Army, The Generals: Stéphane ABRIAL, Hervé LONGUET, Vincent LANATA; Mr Colonel Jack Krine, Mr Helmut Sinn, and Mr Alain WERTHEIMER.
A lot of pilots, students of the War School, representatives of the GIGN, of the RAID and of the Navy were attending to the event.
The warm and inviting atmosphere lasted throughout the night - a event where, among all those watches, one really did not pay heed to the time...

BELL & ROSS PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE 3.3 ARDENNES FIGHTER SQUADRON
On this day, one of the most famous units in the French Air Force, the 3.3 Ardennes fighter squadron, celebrated its 70th anniversary. Bell & Ross was there.
This Middle Eastern "Free French Air Force" combat group was created in Lebanon, in 1943, in the middle of the Second World War. Its motto, "Ne recule ni ne dévie" ("neither retreat nor change direction"), testifies to its moral values, while its emblem, a wild boar's head, illustrates its combativeness.
Currently, some 20 Mirage 2000 Ds specializing in ground assault, constitute the powerhouse of the 3.3, which has been deployed in recent years in former Yugoslavia, the Congo, Libya, Afghanistan and most recently in Mali, as part of Operation Serval.
On September 20th, beneath a miraculously clear sky, the 3.3's Mirage 2000 Ds, along with the Rafale "Tiger Meet" and Epsilon from the Cartouche Doré unit, presented impressive demonstrations to mark the squadron's 70th anniversary.
One of the Mirages, decorated in a livery specially designed for the occasion, led the airshow and painted the sky in the colors of the 3.3 Ardennes, while on the ground, ceremonial drills, a presentation of decorations and parades marked this commemorative day.
In the evening, several hundred serving and retired pilots, navigators and mechanics met in an immense aircraft hangar to celebrate the anniversary late into the night, with the participation of Bell & Ross.
All participants, nearly 500 people, were able to admire a selection of Bell & Ross models and in particular the limited edition BR03 92 bearing the emblem of the 3.3 Ardennes and reserved exclusively for squadron members.
For several years, the brand has partnered various units of the French Air Force sharing common values such as efficiency, reliability and a taste for authenticity.
With this "3.3 Ardennes" watch, Bell & Ross adds a new model to its special collections produced in partnership with the French Air Force, the air fighter division of the French Navy, the Ecole de Guerre and elite units such as the GIGN (National Gendarmerie Intervention Group), RAID (French National Police Intervention Group) and the Démineurs (bomb-disposal unit).
Not to mention the models designed for the Space Lab mission, the Italian Air Force (to mark 30 years of the Tornado) and Dassault, with a model celebrating 50 years of the Falcon.
By contributing to the celebration of the 3.3 Ardennes squadron's 70th anniversary, Bell & Ross has added a new word, or rather a new sound, to its vocabulary - the unit's rallying cry, "Grouik", from the fighter squadron's mascot, a wild boar named Aldo!

Bell & Ross supports the CIOR summer congressBell & Ross is a partner of the 66th Congress of the Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers (CIOR) and the 67th Congress of the Interallied Confederation of Medical Reserve Officers (CIOMR) currently being held in Brno, in the Czech Republic, from 30 July to 2 August 2013. These events include civilian military exercises (CIMEX) and a military sporting competition (MILCOMP).
The Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers (CIOR) represents 1.3 million reservists from 34 participating countries that are members of NATO and some of its allies, making it the world's largest military reserve officer organization.
Founded in 1948 by the reserve officer associations of Belgium, France and the Netherlands, CIOR is now a NATO-affiliated, non-political and non-profit umbrella organization of member nations' national reserve officer associations.
CIOR delegates meet twice a year - in the summer and winter - and they work through committees that examine and analyze issues relating to reserve forces. Typical issues of interest include the contributions of reserve forces to international operations, the re-integration of reservists within their respective companies or communities following deployment abroad, the law of armed conflicts, the impact of NATO expansion on the reserves and employer support for reservists.
In addition to their roles as reserve officers, many individual CIOR delegates are highly accomplished business and industrial leaders, public servants and academics. They are therefore in a unique position to contribute to a better understanding of security and defense issues in the population as a whole and to bring civilian expertise and experience to the tasks and challenges facing NATO reserve forces.
A Diploma Ceremony for Aircrew at the French Fighter Pilot Training SchoolOn Thursday, July 18, 2013, a diploma ceremony for aircrew, fighter pilots (French and Belgian) and combat systems navigation officers took place at the Tours Air Base (BA705). Air Force Brigadier-General Néret, commander of the Air Force fighter wing, presided over the event.
The ceremony officially marks their successful completion of the eight-month pilot training program on the Alphajet at the Tours fighter pilot training school. This cosmopolitan school trains fighter crews, including future pilots and navigators, at the controls of French and foreign Air Force and Naval Aviation aircraft.
After the salutation of the flag, the review of the troops, and a medal presentation ceremony, came the traditional awarding of diplomas, known as macaronnage. Twelve French Air Force officers and six Belgian Air Component officers received their fighter pilot diploma. Three combat systems navigation officers, including a woman, also received their badges. Five cadet officers were also awarded their dagger, a symbol of their accession to the Air Force officer corps.
The families, military authorities and local elected officials in attendance were treated to a parade of ground troops, a flyover by three Alphajets and listened to the speech by Brigadier-General Néret.
Then, as a traditional ending to this momentous day, the macaronnage evening party took place, where a Bell & Ross Aviation watch was won.
These officers have achieved part of their dream by becoming Air Force aircrew, a first step towards an aeronautical career in an active squadron.
We wish them fair winds and fine flying!
July 14th military paradeThe traditional July 14th military parade on the Champs-Elysées took place last Sunday under a radiant sun and in the presence of a large crowd.
This year, the theme of the parade - an opportunity to review the country's armed forces and pay tribute to them - was "an avant-garde army, proud of its history".
Led by soldiers from Mali and the flags of 12 African countries engaged alongside France in Mali, an immense blue drape symbolizing the National Order of Merit and the tricolor plume of the French Acrobatic Patrol in the sky above, the 2013 event was intense and colorful in celebration of the success of the French operation in the Sahel.
At 10:36am, the French Acrobatic Patrol traced the red, white and blue flag in the Parisian sky, flying over the official podium, where, alongside French President François Hollande, stood the Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, Malian interim President Dioncounda Traoré and Croatian President Ivo Josipovic.
The crowd turned up to applaud not only the French troops involved in the Serval operation, but also the Rafale planes and Tigre helicopters which distinguished themselves in Mali and Afghanistan, and the new Airbus transport plane, the A400M, the star of the air show.
The program included several anniversaries, including the 50th anniversary of the National Order of Merit and the 60th anniversary of the French Acrobatic Patrol. A detachment from the Franco-German brigade led by German General Gert-Johannes Hagemann also descended the Champs-Elysées for the 50th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty. Croatia, the last country to have joined the European Union, took part in the festivities with a final detachment of soldiers in their traditional bright red uniforms.
The July 14th parade was also an opportunity for schools to march down the most beautiful avenue in the world. The order was decided by their length of service. The polytechnical cadets were therefore the first to pass in front of the French President, followed by the National Gendarmerie officer training school, officer cadets from Saint-Cyr, the naval training school and the air force training school.
This major event for the Republic ended with a demonstration of precision parachute jumping and a rousing "Song of the Partisans", interpreted by the French Army Choirs, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the creation of the Resistance Medal.
At the end of the parade, the French President paid tribute to soldiers wounded in action and the families of soldiers wounded or killed, before taking a quick walkabout.
BR Headquarters, France
Bell & Ross produces a watch for the Ecole de GuerreBell & Ross has created a unique model exclusively for the École de Guerre (French War School).
The École de Guerre, the ultimate French training academy for the French military, is located in the grounds of the École Militaire (French Military School) founded in 1751 by Louis XV "to support 500 young men and educate them in the ways of war". It trains the top high-ranking officers of the French Army and of friendly and allied armies to become future military leaders.
The timepiece dedicated to the École de Guerre is the Vintage BR 123 Heritage. Inspired by the watches worn by aviators in the 1940s, it is characterized by the matte black, anti-reflective finish of the case, the domed crystal and the graphics on the dial. The sand-colored hands, index and numerals recall the effects of passing time and are reminiscent of the distinctive coloring of period watches.
The piece customized for the École de Guerre includes all these characteristics and features its insignia both on the dial and the numbered case back.
With this model, Bell & Ross once again confirms its commitment to the values promoted by the military, which have inspired each of its timepieces, and is proud to associate its name with that of this prestigious school symbolizing French military excellence.
Salon de Provence, France
Bell & Ross rewards the École de l'Air valedictorianBell & Ross has always declared its admiration for military aviation, even adopting it as the basis for its collections. As well as inspiration, Bell & Ross and the French Air Force also share the values of respect, integrity, service, and excellence.
It is therefore natural for the brand to be associated with events affecting this important fighting force and particularly students of the École de l'Air. These students receive very advanced training in three fields: combat training, academic training combining science and humanities and aeronautical training.
In the presence of Air Force Brigadier-General Gilles Modéré, head of the Salon-de-Provence Air Force Officers' School, Bell & Ross rewarded the valedictorian. Pilot Officer Nicolas Pourquier, from the École de l'Air's "Général de Marmier" class of 2010 was presented with a Bell & Ross Aviation BR 03 watch by Alexandra Teboul, Head of Products and Partnerships.
The traditional passing out ceremony took place at dusk. This famous event is the highlight of year for the officer cadets. The Ecole de l'Air's first year officer cadets and cadets from the Ecole Militaire de l'Air are named after their respective mentors. The mentors of each year are officers who died on aerial duties or in combat, recognized for their moral qualities, their values or acts of courage. They represent the model to which each officer must aspire. They are examples for young officers.
So under the high patronage of the Mister for Defense, Jean-Yves Le Drian, in the presence of the Air Force Chief of Staff, General Denis Mercier, the Air Force Head of Human Resources, Air Vice Marshal Claude Tafani, and Air Force Brigadier-General Gilles Modéré, commander of the Air Force Officers' School and 701 Air Base, the two classes of 2012 passed out in a traditional and immutable ceremony, and were named the "Colonel Roland de la Poype" class and the "Maryse Hilsz" class respectively.
The ceremony, first held for the 1935 "Capitaine Guynemer" class and celebrated each year since, attended by a number of high-ranking officials, is an important event at which future officers of the French Air Force commit to fulfilling their vocation with honor and dignity, following in the footsteps of their mentors - leading aviators whose devotion, acts of courage and remarkable human and military qualities will act as an example for the officer cadets.
Since the École de l'Air and the École Militaire de l'Air were founded in Salon-de-Provence, this ceremony has traditionally taken place at night on the Place Pelletier d'Oisy, on the first Friday in July. It marks the solemn entry of the cadets into their career as officers and invites them to serve their country by following the example of their illustrious forebears.
In a solemn atmosphere, to music played by the Air Force band, with a flyover by the French Acrobatic Patrol, the two graduating classes ceremonially exchanged their colors.
This involved transferring each school's flag to the incoming guards, made up of the newly graduated officer cadets. This military tradition has been carried out since 1937, when the "Capitaine Guynemer" class handed over the École de l'Air flag to the1936 "Capitaine Astier de Villatte" class. The flag of the École militaire de l'Air was first transferred on July 5th, 1963.

Bell & Ross sponsoring the renovation of the clock of the Museum of Air and SpaceIn the presence of Mr. Jean-Yves le Drian, Minister of the Defence, the new completely restored Eight Columns Room has been inaugurated on the 3rd of June 2013 in Le Bourget Musem of Air and Space. This absolute Art Deco jewel has been designed for the Universal Exhibition in 1937. The reopening to the public of this prestigious space was accompanied by two powerful symbols: the placement at the entrance of the Museum of three Fouga Magister, famous aircrafts of the "Patrouille de France" and emblem of the Museum, and the presentation of the new clock, the masterpiece of this room, fully restored thanks to the sponsoring of Bell & Ross.
Inspired by the history of the aviation, Bell & Ross designs watches that pay tribute to the key episodes of the aviation history and to the technological advances from 1900 to today. Therefore, it was natural for the brand to make a contribution to this beautiful project.
The monumental clock which was decorating the Eight Columns Room found its initial place occupied before its destruction during the Second World War thanks to Bell & Ross who took in charge the whole restoration. The clock, characteristic of the Bourget Airport because of its size and of the other twelve clocks encircling it and displaying different time zones around the world, represents a dream for generations of travelers.
This inauguration, a partnership between Bell & Ross and the Jet Services aviation group was crowned by the passage of the "Patrouille de France" over the Museum.
Inhabited by the spirit of aviation's heroes, like Charles Lindbergh, Costes and Bellonte, Antoine de Saint Exupéry who walked on the tarmac of Le Bourget, many guests were able to follow on their footsteps for a moment.
Bell & Ross is proud to participate to the restoration of the French aviation heritage and to be able to give a second life to a symbol of its history.
Bell & Ross partners the centenary of the Saint-Dizier-Robinson Air Base.
The Saint-Dizier air field is celebrating its centenary this year, despite being very much rooted in the 21st century since it is home to the 113 Air Base, assigned the jewel in the crown of the French Air Force - the Rafale.
Bell & Ross, whose collections are inspired by the history of aviation, was present to celebrate. To mark the event, a private day dedicated to aeronautics was organised at BA 113, presided over by General Denis Mercier, Chief of Staff of the French Air Force (CEMAA). To round off the day, guests were invited to a dinner-dance in a hall decorated for the occasion, the dance floor being flanked by the insignia of squadrons past and present. At the end of the evening, a prize draw was held for the lucky winner of a BR03 Type Aviation.
Inaugurated in St Dizier in 1913, the Robinson "landing station" played a key role in military aviation during the 1914-1918 war.
Famous names have helped shape its impressive history, the most famous of all being Major Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
Over time the airfield would become civil, military and at one point German before being assigned to NATO and finally taking its current form as an air base of leading importance.
Following the end of the Second World War, from 1965 the base became an important part of the system of nuclear deterrence, being assigned in turn the Mirage IVA, Jaguar and Rafale.
Today, more than 1950 civilian and military staff work and contribute to the strategic functions of BA 113's five Rafale squadrons.
